Meet the Marshall County Health Department Director
The Marshall County Health Department (MCHD) has appointed a new Public Health Director. Billy Pitts accepted the position effective March 26th. Billy previously worked with MCHD as the Human Resource Manager from July 2014 – August 2017. Originally, from southern Mississippi, Billy joined the U.S. Air Force immediately upon graduating Pascagoula High School in 1984. He served until he retired from military service in 2004. His careers in the Air Force include tactical aircraft maintenance, flight mechanic, instructor of military science, enlistment specialist, military entrance processing senior liaison, and personnel superintendent.
Billy settled in western KY after retiring from the military in 2004 to be close to his children who were graduating high school in the area and attending Murray State University. He is married with four children, three of which are now adults, and four grandchildren. Billy comes to MCHD with a Masters in Healthcare Administration, Masters in Human Resources, Bachelors in Business Management, and Associates in Personnel Administration.
Billy is quoted as saying “the Marshall County Health Department is like home to me and the people here are like family. I look forward to serving the needs of our community as we continue to promote healthy lifestyles and provide a safe environment.”
